Scarring injury

Her boyfriend was driving to thrill.

Our client was 20 and very pretty. She was riding one day with her boyfriend and the roads were wet. As he sped around a curve, the car fishtailed and he looked over at her and said “Isn’t that fun?”

She did not think it was fun. Going around the next corner her boyfriend lost control. She woke up in the Emergency Room. Miraculously she made a full recovery, except for one thing. Slashed across her forehead was a garish permanent scar.

At one point the insurance company suggested that she could change her hairstyle and wear long bangs for the rest of her life. Then the scar wouldn’t be that big of a deal anymore.

Outrageous! When it comes to scars and injuries that leave scars their are multiple issues that you and your attorney can not afford to leave unaddressed. Some scars can be revised, some will grow or keloid if left untreated. Some scars can be removed by a skilled plastic surgeon, some are permanent and painful. Scar tissue is less flexible than healthy tissue and this can lead to mobility problems and loss of use of affected areas if proper treatment is not obtained. All of these issues, and more, need to be documented and presented to the insurance company in a forceful and compelling manner.
